Valentine's Day Bunting

Friday, February 1

Okay, guys. I am sold on buntings. My friend, Allie, is a seriously awesome crafter. And she makes the cutest buntings. She made a gorgeous one for Christmas, and she has a darling one abover her baby boy's crib. So when she suggested we do a Valentine's Day bunting, I was so excited!

And before we move on - remember when I talked about Allie here and here? She just started a blog! Go check her out over at Curlie Days! Girl's got awesome fashion and amazing talent. Seriously, this project was all her.

The inspiration for our bunting was this gorgeous one from Rebecca over at Simple As That.

The bunting itself was pretty simple to make, so we grabbed our materials and got to work! It was such a fun craft, and it makes for a super fun girl's day.

For my flag, I tore out pages from Sense and Sensibility. I'd picked it up at Target last year for $1. I'm ashamed to say I haven't even read the whole thing (I know, I know. I thought I'd read it back in high school, but come to find out, I actually hadn't). It's such a classic; I mean, come on - Jane Austen's first published novel! Sigh. I've read enough, though, to know that the pages would be a perfect backdrop for a little romantic bunting. I just had to make sure that I tore out pages I'd already read.

Allie had the brilliant idea to distress our pages. Didn't they turn out gorgeous? I love the way it antiqued them. Allie let me borrow her camera and I snapped away at the loveliness of it all.

Here's Allie's finished bunting on her Valentine's Day shelf! I'm telling ya - the girl knows how to decorate for the holidays.

And here's my finished product hanging up on our mantel! I'm in love with it. Isn't it the cutest? I've never really decorated for Valentine's Day before, but having just this pretty little bunting hanging up makes me want to deck out the entire house in pink, red, and white.

Happy February, friends! :)
