Crafting for a Cause is a list of Etsy shops who will be donating a portion (some are donating 100%) to the official relief fund for the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Need a few stocking stuffer ideas? When I was growing up, my parents would always put an orange and some pecans or walnuts in ours, along with a few little trinkits sprinkled in between. I loved the simplicity - I loved getting small things of my favorite candy, or a new chapstick with some flavor my Mom thought I would love. Also, stockings were for things that were practical - things that you needed. Like toothpaste or notebooks and pens. Throughout the years, I've found a few practical face/hair/skin products that really work for me. I thought I would pass these along in case you're looking for a few practical stocking stuffers for a lady friend of yours (although some of these products would work great for a man friend, too).
If you're interested, see why each product is my favorite by clicking "Read More" below:
1 // Almay Smart Shade Anti-Aging Foundation: Provides coverage without covering up my face. It's very light. I've tried both the original and the Anti-Aging, and I personally prefer the Anti-Aging - it gives me better coverage without hiding my freckles.
2 // LUSH Ma Bar: This bubble bath bar is my relaxation smell soul mate. I'm not even kidding. The smell when this bar hits the water - it's my own personal favorite smell of all time, ever.
3 // Carmex Healing Lip Balm: I have chronically dry lips. This is the only stuff I've ever found to truly keep my dry lips at bay. I have a jar in every purse I own and a few strategically placed throughout cupboards and drawers around the house.
6 // Vaseline: Once again, chronically dry lips here. I rub a bit of vaseline on my lips before I go to bed at night for extra moisture. I rub it over my eyelashes and eyebrows, too. I've noticed they look lusher, fuller, and grow a little faster when I consistently use it.
9 // Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets: If you have problems with an over oily face or greasy T-zone, please go out and buy this right now. It works wonders. And it doesn't rub off your makeup at all - that's the best part. You don't have to touch up afterwords.
10 // Proactiv: I've been using this stuff since my junior year of high school. It's expensive to purchase, but it lasts me twice as long as the bottle says it will. It's the only face cleanser I've used in years, and I've always been tremendously satisfied with it.
11 // Chi Hair Straightener: This is a more expensive stocking stuffer, but I really like mine. I was fine with $30 straighteners I bought from Wal-Mart, but they only lasted me a year or so. I've had this baby for almost 4 years now and it's still going strong. Worth the money.
12 // Mane 'n Tail Shampoo and Conditioner: You guys - this is horse shampoo. Legit horse shampoo. I'm not even kidding. On the bottle, there are instructions on how to use on a horse. There's also instructions for humans, too, so don't worry (lather, rinse, repeat). If you've never heard of this stuff, or you've never used it, you're missing out. It's just as great as normal shampoo, and it helps your hair grow. I think more than helping your hair literally grow, it strengthens it so it's healthier and can grow without as much damage and breakage. Again, I've been using this stuff for years - maybe even all the way back to middle school. I use it off and on - most when I'm growing my hair out again.
13 // Udderly Smooth Udder Cream: So... I have a thing for animal products. Udder Cream was originally made for cows' udders. Seriously. Have you ever milked a cow before (raising hand here - I grew up in Georgia. Not that being from Georgia means you've milked a cow or anything, but I did grow up in southern Georgia. I've also milked a goat). A cow's udders can get seriously cracked and brittle and dry. A cream was developed to help ease udder cracking - and soon some of the farmers' wives noticed that their husbands hands were soft and supple after applying it. So, human knock-off versions of this stuff was made. I've, once again, been using this stuff for years. My parents always have a jar back home. If you live in a dry climate (like Arizona), and the heat and sun and wind is brutal on your skin, pick up a tube of this stuff. You'll be amazed by the results.
Funny story. I once wanted leave in conditioner as a teen, but all I could find was Main n' Tail leave in conditioner. So i used it and it worked great! I had to hide it from my friends though...plus I had udderly smooth too (works great!)
